After weeks of Dianne Feinstein refusing to participate in a public debate with her opponent for U.S. Senate. Republican U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Emken has turned to Hollywood for a solution. Using the same technology that made Forrest Gump a household name, the Emken campaign is releasing a YouTube video that puts Emken in a “debate” with Feinstein – a debate that the 79-year old three term Senator had sought to deny the public as well as her opponent.
“Hi, I’m Elizabeth Emken and I’m challenging Dianne Feinstein for California’s seat in the U.S. Senate,” begins the 2-minute web video. “She's refused to debate me. She says she's doesn't see the point, but maybe it’s because after nearly half a century as a politician she just doesn’t have the energy or the ideas anymore. I believe it’s essential for you to see us debate one another so that you can know where each of us stands and make an educated decision at the polls. Because it’s the right thing to do.”
The clip of Emken and Feinstein “debating” then begins as Emken challenges Feinstein for a lack of progress in looking out for the interests of the citizens of California. At the conclusion of the virtual debate, Emken urges voters who want to see the rest of the matchup to contact Feinstein’s Los Angeles office.

Emken is challenging Feinstein in a race where polls show that roughly 20 percent of Californians are still undecided about who to vote for in the U.S. Senate race, a surprising number considering that Feinstein has nearly 100% name recognition.
For her part, Emken is hoping this virtual debate will lead to a real debate in the waning weeks of the campaign, and if not, that California voters will send a message to Feinstein that those who don’t debate shouldn’t receive the voters’ support.
“Californians have a strong sense of fair-play and they expect their elected representatives to come before them every two, four or six years and debate their opponents,” said Emken. “Dianne Feinstein hasn’t debated anyone for twelve years. She’s been in office so long that she demands a coronation instead of a conversation. While we thank her for her service, it’s time to retire Senator Feinstein and elect a Senator with energy and fresh perspective for California’s future.”
